Universal Tankers big spring clean out for the great north air ambulance

Ongoing support for the GNAA

Throughout March and April, Universal Tankers have been gathering up old clothes, bedding, shoes etc to donate to generate funds for the Great North Air Ambulance service. Staff across 20 depots have donated and filled over 25 bags for the donation. Clothing collections such as these are used to generate funds for the charity to allow them to continue operating and providing their amazing service.

The ‘Big Spring Clean Out’ was part of Universal Tankers’ ongoing support for the GNAA. Universal Tankers have supported the GNAA for several years with various initiatives including Easter raffles and running the Great North Run.

The Great North Air Ambulance service provides vital, pre-hospital care to the scene, across the North East and Cumbria. In 2021 alone, the charity received over 1,600 callouts with each mission costing more than £4000.

Clothing donations like this, no matter how small, all go to support the incredible work of this charity. What’s more, the GNAA makes it as easy as possible for you to donate with services such as kerbside collections (collection of pre-distributed GNAA collection bags), arranged collections (collections arranged at a specific place and time Monday – Saturday) and community collections (collections in community hubs, local businesses, village halls, etc.).

For our collection, we opted for an arranged collection from our Stokesley depot due to the large amount of clothes. This is a quick and simple process which makes donating unwanted clothes quick and frictionless. You can find out more about GNAA clothing collections here.

Contrary to popular belief, the Great North Air Ambulance Service is not NHS-funded, which makes donations such as these even more important. The GNAA rely solely on donations and the generosity of the community. You can find out the various ways to help the charity here.

We’re glad that this donation helps the GNAA to continue to keep their helicopters in the sky and continue to save lives.

Supporting Off-Grid Hotels with Off-Grid Water Solutions

Hotels and rental homes that operate off-grid without access to external utilities face broader challenges than standard properties. In addition to meeting the same operational and guest service expectations, they must manage their own water systems from sourcing and storage to treatment and distribution. Off-grid systems need regular maintenance to maintain consistent supply and meet regulatory standards, particularly where potable water and wastewater management are concerned.

Construction Waste Statistics UK

Construction sites generate various liquid waste, including silt and water runoff from groundworks and rainfall, as well as blackwater produced through welfare facilities used by workers. Effective management of these outputs is a legal requirement, with companies in the sector expected to handle, transport, and dispose of waste in line with all regulations. Failure to comply can result in enforcement action, substantial fines, and reputational damage.
