Rising Through The Ranks

Celebrating our hard workers

We are excited to announce 4 recent promotions within the Universal Tankers team. From today (1st March), Matthew Tanfield, Seumas Doughty, Craig Pennington and William Nelson take up their new roles.

Matthew is starting his new role as Group Operations Director having started with Universal Tankers (formerly Waters Waste) nearly 10 years ago in June 2012 as a Transport Assistant. From there, he has gone from strength-to-strength; being promoted to Operations Manager in 2017 and passing his National & International CPC the following year. His hard work and dedication has cemented Matthew as one of the longest serving Universal members and vital part of the Universal team.

Matthew had a few words to say about his new role – “As Operations Director I will be overseeing everything operational within the group throughout the UK, looking forward to being involved more north of the border and helping in the continued expansion of the business.

Seumas started in 2018 as Transport Operator. He has since filled the roles of Southern Regional Transport Operator, Deputy Operations Manager and as of today, taking the baton from Matthew and filling the role of Operations Manager. Seumas has proved his worth in the team, shown by his numerous promotions in a relatively short period of time.

I am excited to be taking on the role of Operations Manager and look forward to working closely with the management and office staff to ensure the smooth running of the da- to-day business.

Craig will be taking up the role of Group Head of Transport. He became part of the Universal team in 2016 and has filled various roles. Craig has moved swiftly through the company taking the role of Transport Planner and most recently, Transport Manager. With his new role, Craig will be covering all aspects of running and maintaining Universal’s large road-going tanker fleet throughout the UK.

For the past couple of years, as a Transport Manager, I have realised the importance of the relationships we have and make at Universal. The best-in-class service Universal endeavours to provide to all customers is supported behind the scenes by its relationships with staff, suppliers and manufacturers alike. I am excited to build on these relationships, grow with and develop our transport department to support our day-to-day operations and carry on enabling the consistent customer service level that Universal has always prided itself on.

William joined Waste Water Services in 2017 as Operations Controller. In the November of 2020 Universal Tanker Solutions Ltd. acquired Waste Water Services. Due to his continued commitment and dedication, he has now been promoted to Transport Manager (Universal Scotland). William brings with him a wealth of knowledge in the transport sector, from driving buses across Europe to running his own company. In his new role, William will take responsibility across Universal’s Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen and Nairn depots.

I am delighted to be given the opportunity by Simon & Toby to continue working with Universal Tanker Solutions as Transport Manager at our brand new facilities at Coatbridge.

These are exciting times for Universal Tanker Solutions Ltd. with continuous growth across our depots. The hard work and dedication of all Universal staff is vital to providing the professional and reliable service to our customers across England and Scotland.
