Universal Tankers Introduce Employee Assistance Programme

he importance of staff wellbeing in the modern workplace has become increasingly prominent in recent years. Having a focus on staff wellbeing not only benefits the staff but the organisation as a whole. Across the UK, poor mental health/wellbeing amongst staff costs employers up to £45 billion per year.

Employee Assistance Programme

Supporting staff in and out of the workplace creates a positive environment where individuals and the organisation can thrive with a happier workforce, fewer sick days and increased productivity.

With this in mind, Universal Tankers have introduced an Employee Assistance Programme to support their workforce. This programme is available to all Universal Tankers staff, giving them 24/7 support covering various areas or expertise. The programme Universal Tankers have chosen is provided by Health Assured. You can find out more about the range of programmes they offer here.

What is an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)?

An EAP is an employee benefit platform to help staff deal with personal and professional issues. An EAP provides support for any scenario that could affect work life, home life, mental health, physical health or general wellbeing.

Who Are Health Assured?

Health Assured are an award-winning employee assistance program operating across the UK and Ireland. Their platform provides support to more than 15 million people in public, private and non-profit businesses, and has done so for over 20 years. Universal Tankers hope to use this wealth of expertise to positively impact their workforce and the business as a whole.

How will this help Universal Tankers staff?

Due to the wide range of expertise on offer from this EAP, Universal Tanker staff can access support for:

  • Stress & anxiety
  • Bereavement
  • Relationship advice
  • Tenancy & housing concerns
  • Counselling
  • Financial wellbeing
  • Legal information
  • Alcohol & drug issues
  • Family issues
  • Childcare support
  • Medical information
  • Consumer issues

All this support is easily accessible via an app. This gives staff great flexibility in when and where they can access the service. Included in each area of support are services such as assessments, short term counselling and referral services for employees and their immediate family, wherever they may be in the world.

Universal Tankers hope that their introduction of an Employee Assistance Programme will promote staff wellbeing across their workforce and allow their staff to always have quality, professional support on-hand should they require it. They also hope that other employers can follow suit in the introduction of an EAP for their staff.

People are at the heart of Universal Tankers and the professional, reliable service they offer across England and Scotland so looking out for their staff wellbeing reaps benefits for everyone.
